Find x. But what is x? In algebraic terms, x is the unknown. The letter x itself in the alphabet also serves as a mysterious letter. It isn’t commonly used, but still considered a part of the 26 letters that act as our foundation in English. In many situations, people use x to mark what they don’t know. From what society infers and how the world uses this letter, symbol, or label, we can conclude that x represents the unknown, the mysterious and the concealed.
Some may find the unrevealed dangerous, terrifying, and menacing. But others may find it intriguing, adventurous and entertaining. Though the outcome of these two extremes have one thing in common: that is the to define x. Why are we humans so interested in identifying this x? That’s because of one common trait we all have as humans:, curiosity. We want to know the unknown, see the unseen, and feel the unfelt.
The beauty to this unknown x is that there are endless possibilities in this world. Everyone can share similar x’s, but will have ones that separate one human brain from the other. What is the meaning of my life? What is my purpose? Did I remember to clean the litter box before leaving the house? As long as our trait of being inquisitive lives on, we will never fully grasp or find all the answers to x.
But what’s the point of searching for the undefined? Why is x so important? What’s the point of finding out an answer even though a million more wait for you? Everyone can have their own answer to this question. My personal answer is because through the experience of finding an answer, I gain so much more than just the answer. For example, the value of finding the meaning of life isn’t solely in the answer, but the process of answering the question. Through the process, you get to know yourself, the people around you, and the world better. Through every adventure of uncovering an x, I gain more wisdom, knowledge and intelligence.
The cycle of discovering a new x, consciously making the decision to find an x, getting confused by the x, and finally understanding the x, also me feel alive. It lets me know that I am actively searching for something in life, and not just letting my brain sit and rot. So even though finding all the answers to x is impossible, not finding all the answers to x isn’t necessarily a bad thing. The constant of to not understand, to then understand, and not understand again is the very foundation to life. (449 words)

Reflection:
Out of all the topics, “Find x” stood out to me immediately. Instead of a limiting topic to write about, I thought of it as a topic that I could write anything about. As I started to brainstorm, a lot of good ideas came to mind and I tried going deeper in the topic.. But when it came to execution, again I felt like I was repeating myself a lot and didn’t really make a good point.
